United Women of Faith (UWF) 2023

As United Women in Faith go forth into 2023, we will continue to grow spiritually, become more deeply rooted in Christ and put our Faith into action.

All women, visitors and winter residents, of Willowbrook are invited to participate in circle or unit meetings. Unit meetings are held on the Third Monday of most months with a BYOL (Bring your own lunch) and an interesting program. The four Circles meet at the church unless otherwise noted:

Mary and Elizabeth Circles meet on the second Monday. Rachel Circle meets the second Tuesday. Dorcas Circle meets the second Wednesday. For location and meeting times check the monthly calendar (link on home page) or call the church office, 623-974-5637.

Recent Events:

We had our Annual Christmas tea in December with 160 in attendance. We thank everyone who helped in the kitchen and with set up and clean up. We are very grateful for the men who served as our waiters! We can always use help on this committee to help plan the next tea. Proceeds from the tea go to national and global missions to help women, children and youth. Willowbrook UWF received recognition as a Five Star Unit by participating in all of the mission related activities.

Our January Unit meeting theme was the annual pledge service and the mission project was preparing personal hygiene kits for women and girls in disaster areas. The kits were sent to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief.)

Upcoming Events: (subject to change)

As we eagerly look forward to the remaining programs in this new year February provides another great service opportunity. We will be collecting spices to distribute to food banks. They truly appreciate getting spices which are rarely included in regular donations. The spices will be blessed on a Sunday before Jesse Ramirez from Valley View Food Bank comes as our meeting guest speaker.

Do you notice there are times in life when things seem overwhelming? As we think back on the past few stressful years we need to take time out for a spiritual re-boot. On March 18th Mary Hollan will be leading us in A Day Apart titled “Just Breathe!” Again this year it will be in the beautiful relaxing setting of Lake Pleasant Recreational Center. The cost is $45, but there is scholarship help available. Check the monthly Good News for registration information.

April it is time for our Spring Luncheon. Invite a friend or someone who sits by you on Sunday. May is our Guest meeting which usually occurs in late afternoon instead of noon.

June, July & August are usually combined fellowship meetings at local restaurants for lunch. Watch the website or call the office for details.

UWF has an excellent reading program for the women to participate in. Many of the books are located in the church library and are available to anyone in the church. Also, the Response magazine has many interesting articles.

The theme of the Conference UWF this year is EXCITE-INVITE-UNITE. We are women united in our faith to bring love into action. Please join us!

Purpose: UNITED WOMEN OF FAITH SHALL BE A COMMUNITY OF WOMEN WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO KNOW GOD AND TO EXPERIENCE FREEDOM AS WHOLE PERSONS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; TO DEVELOP A CREATIVE, SUPPORTIVE FELLOWSHIP AND TO EXPAND CONCEPTS OF MISSION THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE GLOBAL MINISTRIES OF THE CHURCH.
