The Advent season is a wonderful time as we prepare our homes and our hearts to the coming of the Christ Child. We invite you to celebrate Christmas with us.
1:00 pm, Friday, December 7th : United Methodist Women’s Annual Christmas Tea
The United Methodist Women will once again host their annual Christmas Tea & Silent Auction on Friday, December 1st. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. with the Tea beginning at 2:00 p.m. The tables are beautiful, the food is delicious, and the entertainment sublime. Need a gift for that special friend? Give her an early present of a ticket to the tea. Tickets are required.
3:30 pm, Sunday, December 9th: Advent Service of Light
Memories of Christmases past come to mind as the Advent season begins. When a loved one passes away, the festivity of the holiday season represents a particularly tender time. If you have experienced the loss of a loved one, either recently or even in the distant past, you may reserve a candle to light during the Advent Service of Light as we join together to celebrate and give thanks for the lives of loved ones now departed. A reception will follow in Wilson Fellowship Hall, hosted by the Health & Welfare Committee.
9:30 am, Sunday, December 16th: “Tapestry of Light”
The Chancel Choir will present’Tapestry of Light”, a Celtic-style musical program by Joseph Martin as part of our worship on Sunday, December 16th at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Familiar carols and melodies are woven together with thoughtful narration, moving choral settings and exquisite orchestration. The program features an all-female Celtic Consort with violin, cello, flute, percussion and piano. Plan on being here early on Sunday, December 16th to ensure a parking place and seating for this wonderful addition to our Advent and Christmas season.
4:00 pm, Monday, December 24th: A Mosaic Christmas Eve
Rev. Steve Marshall will lead an informal Christmas Eve service at 4:00 p.m. with carol singing, a children’s sermon telling the Christmas story and a dramatic art sermon titled “Mary, Did You Know?” The service will conclude with the traditional singing of “Silent Night” to candlelight.
6:00 pm, Monday, December 24th: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Celebrate the birth of the Christ Child with your family and friends at our Christmas Eve services at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy singing familiar carols and special music by our choir. Hear once again the Christmas story and experience the joy and wonder of Christmas Eve. Rev. Gary Kennedy will bring a special message titled “Good News of Great Joy!”
